John Bishop is the latest comedian to hit headlines for suffering rowdy hecklers while trying to perform a live show.

On Thursday the comedian, 58, was forced to contend with ‘drunk’ front row audience members, one of which was said to have become aggressive.

When they wouldn’t stop talking through his set John repeatedly told them to be quiet or else leave the Devon theatre.

‘This is a live show, okay?’ John can be heard telling the audience members in a video of the incident, which took place during one of his recent Back At It shows.

‘See them, them and them, they all have as much right as you to enjoy the show,’ he continued, pointing at other individual audience members in frustration at the man and woman.

A woman is then seen leaving the theatre while swearing at the audience over a chorus of boos. She followed the man leaving before her.

The incident happened at the Princess Theatre in Torquay, Devon, on March 27.

An attendee said, as per The Sun: ‘John warned a couple on the front row several times for the show to stop speaking.

‘After the interval they continued doing so and then John told them he wanted them to leave.’

They claimed: ‘The man then stood up and gestured towards John as if he was going to jump on stage.

‘Security got to him in time, grabbed him by the cuff of his shirt and then slammed him through two fire doors.

‘My video only recorded the aftermath in which he then wanted this man’s wife thrown out of the building and slightly later two of their friends were also thrown out.’

One onlooker wrote to Facebook group Spotted Torquay: ‘Just finished seeing John Bishop at Princess Theatre.

‘To the drunk couple that were ejected and especially to the man, you’re both an absolute disgrace.

‘Well done to the security guard who swiftly dealt with them.’

The Liverpudlian funnyman was left fuming by a man and woman in the front row who, reportedly, continuously talked throughout his set. The 58-year-old made his feelings known by consistently asking them to stop speaking. According to other audience members, the comedian eventually requested that they leave the theatre. The man allegedly gestured towards Bishop in an aggressive manner before he was grabbed by security. He was escorted out of the show. Comic Bishop was heard speaking to them and said: ?They all have as much right as you do to enjoy the show.? He then waved at the woman before security escorted her out and said, ?See you then.? The room applauded the comedian while jeering at the woman leaving the gig, as reported by NeedToKnow. Others commended John for his actions, as onlooker Amanda said: ‘Hope the heckler is proud of himself, made himself look a complete tool. JB is a different class of comedy…’

Marianne added: ‘John handled it brilliantly and I really hope he knows that we all loved the show and doesn’t stop him coming back.’

Jeanette said: ‘What an absolute tool….well done to security for handling the situation so well and to the rest of the audience for booing them…I bet they woke up this morning shamefaced.’

In recent years, comedians have noticed a violent shift in British audiences – a trend Metro investigated last year.

This comes after Peter Kay kicked out an audience member for shouting out, ‘Garlic bread!’ repeatedly during his show.

Jimmy Carr also recently sent a heckler packing, but today told Jordan North on Capital Breakfast that he only kicks people out of gigs ‘for a reason’.

‘I do like a heckle,’ Jimmy explained this morning. ‘People come to my tour show and there’s a lot of jokes in it.

‘There’s a lot of like, “Okay, I’ve written a show, this is it,” and then I like to leave enough space so people can just join in and shout nonsense. And it’s kind of that thing of like, I suppose like watching a magician do magic.

Peter Kay sent an audience member packing recently for shouting out ‘Garlic bread’ at one of his gigs (Picture: Shirlaine Forrest/WireImage)

‘Because I’m so used to it, it’s like, “Bring it!” I’m not going to get insulted and it’s kind of fun,’ the Last One Laughing host explained.

He added: ‘I think Peter Kay is a national treasure, he’s a wonderful, wonderful man, and he’s incredibly likeable.

‘But there’s 16,000 people in a room, and he had to get rid of some people who were getting in the way of the evening.

‘And his duty is to the 16,000 people who have booked a hotel, and they’ve bought a ticket and they’re there at the arena to watch the show, and there’s a huge difference.

‘And we all know there’s a huge difference between shouting out something that’s disruptive and repetitive and annoying, and joining in and adding value.

‘The people at my show are very lucky. The audience that come to see me know that when it’s heckling or joining in and asking questions. It’s not random, drunken nonsense. There’s a huge difference.

‘So, when I kick people out as well it’s… The difference between me and Peter Kay is I don’t care.’

The James Bond franchise will reportedly return with an ‘origins’ movie and a ‘very young’ new star, according to actor Daniel Mays.

The search for a new actor to play the superspy is stepping up following the exit of longtime Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson and the takeover by Amazon MGM Studios.

Now reports suggest 007 will be getting a massive shake-up, taking the character back several decades.

The rumour was shared by actor Daniel Mays who revealed he’d heard some details about what Amazon could be planning for Bond.

During an appearance on the We’re Not Getting Any Younger podcast, he said: ‘Bond is a big deal right, that going to Amazon … I heard a rumour they’re going to cast someone very young and go sort of back to the origins.

‘They’re going to sort of ’60s, you’re going to have all the retro cars and that sort of stuff – and start again. I think that would be kind of cool.’

The hunt has been on for another actor to take over from Daniel Craig, 57, who stepped away from the franchise following the release of 2021’s No Time To Die, which ended with 007’s death.

Who is making the next James Bond film?

It was recently revealed Amazon Studios have selected David Heyman – best known for his work on the Harry Potter films – and Spider-Man producer Amy Pascal to take charge of the next 007 film.

In a joint statement, the pair said: ‘James Bond is one of the most iconic characters in the history of cinema.

‘We are humbled to follow in the footsteps of Barbara Broccoli and Michael Wilson who made so many extraordinary films and honored and excited to keep the spirit of Bond very much alive as he embarks on his next adventure.’

As well as Spider-Man, Pascal also worked on the 007 films Casino Royale, Quantum of Solace, and Skyfall, all of which starred Craig as the titular spy.

Amazon MGM Studios’ head of film, Courtenay Valenti said in a statement given to The Hollywood Reporter: ‘We are approaching every creative decision with James Bond, which Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson have so masterfully steered, with the greatest sense of responsibility.

‘Part of an elite group of producers who have developed and managed massive film franchises to box office success and critical acclaim, Amy Pascal and David Heyman are two of the most accomplished, experienced, and respected film producers in our industry.’

Pascal will produce the film via Pascal Pictures, while Heyman will produce via Heyday Films, and this marks the first time that anyone outside the Broccoli family has taken creative control of the franchise.

Who will be the next James Bond actor?

Aaron Taylor-Johnson has long been considered the favourite for the role, though a source firmly denied his involvement.

Since, Coral Bookmakers have tipped Barbie and Ghandi star Mike Dickman is a new favourite to don Bond’s famous tuxedo in the next film.

Dickman, who is the long-term partner of Heather Mills, is best known for starring in Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny as an uncredited protestor.

The Monkey and The Gentleman star Theo James is the 5-2 favourite, followed by James Norton.

Dickman, meanwhile, currently has odds at 5-1, the same as Challengers’ Josh O’Connor.

Other favourites in the running include Callum TurnerHenry CavillJack Lowden, Rege-Jean Page, and Adolescence’s Stephen Graham.

The Kelly Clarkson Show - Season 6

Poor Mo Gilligan made a joke about florists and was swiftly ‘shadow banned’ from Instagram for ‘false information’ about US migrants.

The comedian, 37, was baffled when he was penalised by the social media platform following an innocent joke about florists raking it in on Mother’s Day.

Alongside a picture of stacks of cash, Mo joked: ‘Florist waking up this morning after charging people £25 for a bunch of flowers on Mother’s Day that normally costs £5.’

In a surprising turn of events – and what appears to be an error – Mo then shared a notification from his Instagram which said the post had been flagged as ‘false information’.

The notification explained, ‘This is similar to information third-party fact checkers say is false,’ while linking to an article headlined: ‘US customs officials not offering $750 for tips about migrants.’

Mo explained the situation on his Instagram Story (Picture: Mo Gilligan/Instagram)

Explaining the ban, Mo said: ‘I called out a florist for a laugh and now Instagram has shadow banned me for 3 weeks.’

Shadow banned means a user’s content or profile is made less visible to others.

This is Instagram’s method of reducing false information on the platform.

In its guidelines, the Meta-owned site explains how false information is made ‘harder to find by filtering it from Explore and hashtags, and reducing its visibility in feed and stories’ after being identified by their ‘third-party fact-checkers’.

Mark Zuckerberg recently announced he was getting rid of the platform’s fact checkers in the US (Picture: Chris Unger/Zuffa LLC)

Mo’s experience comes just two months after Mark Zuckerberg announced Meta were scrapping their fact-checkers on Instagram and Facebook in favour of X-style ‘community notes’.

In his video address over the change, Zuckerberg said it was time to ‘get back to our roots on free expression on Facebook and Instagram’.

This move came after Donald Trump criticised Meta’s fact-checking model as being censorship for right-wing voices.

This was Mo’s post that caused all the bother (Picture: Mo Gilligan/Instagram)

After the announced changes, Trump praised Meta for having ‘come a long way’.

While the changes are being rolled out in the US, Meta says it has ‘no immediate plans’ to get rid of its third-party fact checkers in the UK or the EU.

Community notes were first adopted by Elon Musk’s X, and they see users of the platform adding context to posts, rather than the platform itself or any third-party moderators.

‘Fact checkers have just been too politically biased and have destroyed more trust than they’ve created, especially in the US,’ Zuckerberg said earlier in January.

This announcement came four years after Zuckerberg gave testimony to Congress following the January 6 2021 Capital riots, fuelled by false claims the US presidential election was rigged against Donald Trump (something the President still insists).

In the speech, Zuckerberg called their network of fact-checkers ‘industry-leading’ – but now in 2025 he has dubbed them ‘too politically biased’.

Mo is currently touring Mo Gilligan: In The Moment World Tour across the UK.

He is heading to Brighton on April 2, before Plymouth, Cardiff, Bristol, Nottingham, Manchester and wrapping up in London on May 31.

Fans of The Beatles woke up to a surprise announcement this morning.

After a year of rumours about who will play the Beatles in the upcoming Song Pictures biopic about the Fab Four, the cast has officially been announced.

Star of Blitz and Where the Crawdads Sing Harris Dickinson will play John Lennon in the four-film ‘cinematic event’, while Normal People star Paul Mescal will take up the role of Sir Paul McCartney, Masters of the Air’s Barry Keoghan will portray Sir Ringo Starr, and Stranger Things star Joseph Quinn will be George Harrison.

It’s a star-studded line-up of actors, with Paul and Barry rumoured to be playing Sir Paul and Sir Ringo in the Sir Sam Mendes-directed films for months.

While the four films will not be released until April 2028, many fans have expressed their confusion at the casting, confessing that they can’t see the resemblance between the actors and the Hey Jude hitmakers.

Reactions to The Beatles biopic casting

‘No way it’s real i thought twas April fools post,’ commented @avterhour.

‘It’s horribly miscast. Only thing in common is they’re both vaguely weird looking,’ said LedOverlord, talking about Ringo’s choice in reply to @maxmax024, who called the it ‘god mode casting’.

‘Couldn’t find any actors that at least resemble them slightly?’ asked idpreferyoudead.

However, others defended the casting.

‘People moaning about resemblance for the umpteenth time as if they hadn’t been shown time and time again that acting talent is way more important than who looks like who,’ commented @lucashedgess.

When will The Beatles biopic be released

Others were miffed that they will have to wait three whole years to see the films, while some speculated that no one has the time or money to go to the cinema four times in one month.

‘I love The Beatles, but idk how many people are gonna go to the cinema 4 times in one month for one interconnected project,’ said @Scooped_Mids.

What we know about The Beatles biopic

The multi-movie project marks the first time Apple Corps Ltd. and the Beatles – Sir Paul McCartney, Sir Ringo Starr, and the families of John Lennon and George Harrison – have granted full life story and music rights for a scripted film.

Speaking at the CinemaCon convention in Las Vegas on Monday, which the cast also attended, Sir Sam called the films the ‘first binge-able theatrical experience’.

‘I’ve been trying to make a story about The Beatles for years,’ he added.

It was already announced that Sir Sam will produce the films under his Neal Street Productions banner alongside its co-founder Dame Pippa Harris, the former chairwoman of Bafta, and Julie Pastor.

Sir Ringo previously appeared to let slip that Saltburn star Keoghan had taken on the role.

He told Entertainment Tonight: ‘I believe he’s somewhere taking drum lessons, and I hope not too many.’

When Sir Ridley Scott was promoting his second Roman epic Gladiator II last year, he revealed star Paul was joining the Beatles project, telling an industry event that the actor was ‘actually stacked up, doing the Beatles next’ so he may not be able to join him on his next film.

There have been previous films about the Beatles, including Nowhere Boy, about Lennon growing up in Liverpool, starring Aaron Taylor-Johnson.

This isn’t the first time that moviemakers have been inspired by the lives of The Beatles for their films.

Midas Man, Nowhere Boy, and Yesterday are all films inspired by The Beatles, but don’t claim to be entirely accurate portrayals.

Most older artists shy away from belting out notes like it’s 1970. But not The Who’s Pete Townshend and Roger Daltrey.

On Sunday night at the Royal Albert Hall, The Who – still performing in their sixth decade – delivered vocal ranges that would put young whippersnappers of 2025 to shame.

Often heralded as one of rock’s most influential bands of all time, school friends Roger, Pete, John Entwistle and Keith Moon were strumming meaty riffs and shaking hips before Led Zeppelin had even uttered Stairway to Heaven.

In 2025 as Roger turns 81 and Pete is a month shy of 80, they’ve still got it -save a few hearing issues, as the lead singer explained during Thursday night’s concert.

I Can’t Explain kicked off the evening, rippling an excitable vibration through the crowd, and throughout their 22-song set The Who gave it their all.

As Roger and Pete strummed and ooo-ed through their classics including The Kids are Alright, Pinball Wizard and My Generation, there were more than a few flickers of that old rock n’ roll romance.

At points, they could have been anywhere – perhaps at the Isle of Wight Festival in 1970 or on the Pyramid Stage at Glastonbury in 2007 – until you pan out and see the polite bobbings of a seated crowd.

Pete now hunches over his guitar, moulded into position with the occasional full-arm helicopter strum, while Roger leans on his microphone catching a break between gravelly, rounded notes which don’t seem to believe in ceilings. At one point Roger even appeared to do some iteration of a booty dip.

The highlights of the evening were not found in their more energetic tracks like The Real Me when Roger couldn’t seem to hear through the noise of the drums.

After a few frustrated arm gestures and comments, on the final track of the evening, the emotional The Song Is Over, Roger had to stop the concert, explaining: ‘To sing that song I do need to hear the key, and I can’t. All I’ve got is drums going boom, boom, boom. I can’t sing to that. I’m sorry guys.’

Seeing Roger looking defeated, the crowd cheered him on. After joking everyone’s got trains to catch, Roger said, ‘It was going so well… I can sing in any f***ing key you want, but I need to hear which one.’

Roger then gave it another go. This time around, drums turned down, it was a masterpiece.

While the crowd didn’t seem to mind – with their historic The Who T-shirts buffed out on many an ageing male chest – the stops did somewhat put a guillotine through the momentum of the evening.

But, honestly, that didn’t matter. Despite these issues, magic was made, especially in their tricky vocal tracks which both Pete and Roger blew out the park.

While the voices of contemporaries including Paul McCartney and Sir Elton John shake when under pressure, The Who are fog horns in comparison. How they manage to muster such might in their senior years beggars belief.

Love, Reign O’er Me was one of the best vocal performances I’ve ever seen, and Roger is – I repeat – 81. Yet gritty, note-perfect bellows erupt out of him like a battle cry.

Like a sturdy shire horse, Pete kept the night going when frontman Roger couldn’t.

Before Eminence Front Pete apologised for his breath work, which he said would likely be under par after a recent knee operation. But he needn’t have said anything at all. He was mesmerising.

Pete clocked out with a salient, ever off-beat, message for fans.

‘There is a lot to be said about what’s been going on in the music business since The Who were a little pub band,’ Pete began.

‘We call them black swans, when you manage to get a hit and can hang on to it. But there’s another kind of black swan, and that’s the people that manage, partly through not dying, to continue their careers into their geriatric f***ing age.

‘What’s interesting is you can still make the music, you can still pretend to be young. Of course it’s quite clear that you’re not.

‘But what’s amazing is you guys, thank you so much. Some of you have followed us for a long time.

‘Many of you know this is not my chosen career. I would have preferred to be a dustman to be honest. But it’s glorious to be here with people like you tonight.’

Sam Vanderpump was rushed to hospital over Christmas – and if he’d waited another 24 hours he could have died, doctors said (Picture: MailOnline / E4)

Sam Vanderpump has opened up further about a near-death experience over the Christmas period.

The Made in Chelsea star, 28, previously revealed he ‘nearly died’ after liver and kidney failure caused his stomach to swell and triggered life-threatening sepsis.

Sam, who is the nephew of Vanderpump Rules and Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Lisa Vanderpump, told The Mirror: ‘I got an infection due to a genetic disease I’ve got, which led to sepsis and it ended up quite bad. I was in hospital and it was a close call; I could have died.’

Speaking three months later, he said he had recovered physically from the ‘terrifying’ ordeal but was suffering from health anxiety: ‘Mentally, it probably is the most challenging thing I’ve gone through.’

Sam continued: ‘There were signs which can so easily be mistaken for common flu symptoms. So now, every time I get a pain or feel a little lethargic, I think, ‘Oh God, am I getting sepsis?’ rather than, ‘Do I have something completely minor?’

The Channel 4 star previously said he was rushed to Chelsea and Westminster Hospital after his fiancée Alice Yaxley called an ambulance – a move doctors told him saved his life. If he had waited another 24 hours for treatment, it could have been too late.

While Sam was born with liver and kidney disease, it was dormant up until he contracted the flu in December coupled with asthma, and the organs struggled to cope.

In January, Sam told The Mail: ‘I thought I was going to die. I didn’t think my body could cope and that was the scariest thing. It was terrifying.

‘I remember the doctor saying to me that I was going into liver and kidney failure. I burst into tears.’

He continued: ‘The words they used for the function of my liver were “deranged” and “demonic”.’

When they stopped working, Sam’s heart went into overdrive, and his pancreas and spleen struggled too.

‘And you can feel all this pain and uncomfortableness, I was really, really fighting to keep myself alive. I didn’t think I was going to survive or see the outside of the hospital again,’ he said.

‘You never think the flu will lead to you being in a hospital bed and nearly dying. They told my mum that if I had got to hospital 24-48 hours later, I wouldn’t have made it. By calling the ambulance, my girlfriend literally saved my life.’

He added: ‘They told me I was the sickest patient on the ward.’

The reality TV star also developed jaundice, turning his skin and whites of his eyes yellow.

Another terrifying result of the kidney failure was that no water was being absorbed into his body, so Sam’s stomach – usually with a ‘six pack’ – was left swollen with fluids as if pregnant.

‘At one point they wanted to stick a needle in me to drain the water but luckily my kidneys started working,’ he recalled, revealing that throughout the whole 15-day ordeal he lost 15kg, dubbing it the most ‘painful’ experience of his life.

Sam says the doctors are ‘75% sure’ that having the flu is what caused his immune system to weaken, and the disease to take hold.

The finance app MD is the youngest son of Mark and Simone Vanderpump, with an older brother called Jack.

Businessman and DJ Mark – who was Lisa Vanderpump’s older brother – died in 2018 aged 59 from suicide.

Lisa opened up about her struggle to cope in the wake of Mark’s death on reality show Vanderpump Rules.

While Sam was discharged by Christmas Eve, he will be taking the experience into every facet of his life – including Made In Chelsea.

Sam vows to spread awareness about the health issues that affected him and shine a light on the charities which help in the E4 show going forward.

The star also thanked everyone for their support on social media, and also shared that his infection has cleared and he’s ‘hopefully on the road to a full recovery’.

Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly might have bitten off more than they could chew at today’s jubilant Newcastle United parade to celebrate their historic Carabao Cup win.

The Mags lifted a domestic cup for the first time in 70 years a fortnight ago, sending the Geordies into orbit all over Covent Garden and at home around Newcastle upon Tyne.

Today the Britain’s Got Talent presenters joined the Newcastle United football team on an open top bus as they paraded the city to celebrate the win against Liverpool.

The pair, who were reduced to tears over the win at Wembley, were drafted in for hosting duties at the Town Moor park, where the bus parade ended and a stage was erected for 150,000 ticketed fans.

They invited Eddie Howe and his winning team on stage, as huge crowds gathered to take part in the celebration, which was bigger than anyone – including the team – expected.

Let’s just say the Geordie TV duo had quite a job containing the excitement of the North East club, and in particular its Brazilian captain Bruno Guimarães.

After giving a heartfelt interview on the bus, Bruno spontaneously took to the microphone from Ant and Dec while on stage at the Town Moor celebration to lead some of the club’s favourite chants for the crowd.

After Bruno completed the first, in an attempt to keep things BBC and ITV friendly – as both were live-streaming the event – Ant requested: ‘Can we pick one that’s friendly, no swear words.’

As the midfielder took the microphone again, Ant warned Bruno for the second time: ‘Bruno you can have the microphone as long as you cut the swearing.’

But Bruno, wearing his black and white strip, began belting out another expletives-laden chant about his Italian teammate Sandro Tonali (‘He drinks Moretti and he eats Spaghetti and he hates f***ing Sunderland!’)

Ant did see the funny side of it, as he and the team erupted into laughter.

In another moment, Dec asked Bruno what he said to the team before they took on Liverpool at the cup final.

Bruno replied: ‘We go to the pitch as a player, and we leave there as a f***ing legend.’

The BBC apologised to their viewers watching for ‘any bad language you may have heard, particularly from captain Bruno who is very overwhelmed by all of this’, according to The Express.

Viewers thought the moment was pretty hysterical, as many took to social media to joke about the exchange.

@davidpick1987 said, ‘Ant n Dec: “Bruno, you are live on ITV, YouTube, NUFC, CBS, Peacock, Al Jazeera, Bein Sports and IPTV Globally, please do not swear”,’ before posting a Gif of Phoebe from friends swearing loudly.

@DoktorWatson said: ‘OMG. Bruno on live TV just now doing the Tonali song with Ant & Dec not saying Please Don’t Swear.’

Earlier in the day the pair could be seen following the squad onto a bus as Ant shouted ‘let’s get ready to rumble’ in reference to the pair’s hit single as PJ and Duncan, in a clip posted to Instagram.

Meanwhile, Dec said: ‘Well, we’re about to start the parade. I don’t know how we’ve sneaked on here, how have we done this? We just followed the team on and we’re on the parade.’

A post to the social media platform also showed a picture of the pair lifting the trophy formerly known as the League Cup, which was passed around players on the stage.

The victory lap of Newcastle saw the team follow a route from St James’ Park, through the city centre and ending at the stage.

Fans lined the streets to cheer on Eddie Howe’s side, who beat Liverpool 2-1 in the final at Wembley Stadium.

After the bus reached its destination, the players gathered on stage for a celebration in front of the roaring crowd.

The pair are best known for presenting ITV talent show Britain’s Got Talent, and the channel’s reality TV series I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!, after beginning their careers as child actors on CBBC drama Byker Grove.

Speaking on Sky News, Ant said: ‘We’ve just left St James’ Park, and already the roads are lined with thousands and thousands of people, this is amazing.

Dec said: ‘A lot of people have waited a very long time to see the Newcastle players taking a trophy through the streets of Tyneside.

‘It has been a long wait, but I tell you what, it has absolutely been worth it.’

Ant then asked him: ‘Big question is though, are you going to cry like we did at Wembley on the day they won?’

To which Dec replied: ‘Probably.’

Ant then asked if the bus could ‘stop at Greggs on the way’ because he was ‘starving’.

Talking to the crowd on stage, Ant and Dec reflected on how they ‘bonded’ over their ‘love of Newcastle United’.

Ant ended the evening by reflecting on the day: ‘It bought a tear to my eye. It was wonderful.’

Comedian Seann Walsh has announced he is a father-of-two after keeping his partner’s pregnancy under wraps.

The Strictly Come Dancing star, 39, shares a daughter Wylda, two, with his partner Grace Adderley, but fans were not aware they were expecting an addition to the family until today, when the newborn popped up on his social media.

The I’m A Celebrity star unveiled little Casper to the world in a very casual manner on Instagram while sharing a picture of little Wylda with what appears to be a tub of yoghurt on her head.

‘My first five minutes being left alone with Wylda and our newborn Casper. S*** just got real,’ he joked alongside the picture.

He then posted a picture of him holding little Casper on a picnic bench next to little mucky Wylda, and observed: ‘Gonna need a bigger boat.’

Seann’s wholesome life is miles away from his tumultuous BBC ballroom appearance seven years ago, when he and dance partner Katya Jones were caught having fallen for the famed Strictly curse.

While Katya was married to fellow professional dancer Neil Jones and Seann was in a relationship with actress Rebecca Humphries, the dancing duo were spotted kissing outside a London pub.

‘I left the wardrobe department and before I could order my first beer, my agent came over and asked if he could have a word with me outside,’ Seann later explained of the events that night.

‘I thought, “He is going to tell me I have got Michael McIntyre’s Big Show! I had better act surprised!” Turns out, I didn’t have to act surprised.’

He said they went into the BBC car park and his agent ‘looked over his glasses’ and told Seann: ‘About 20 minutes ago, they posted a photo of you kissing Katya outside a pub.’

He just announced the arrival of his second child (Picture: Seann Walsh/Instagram)

‘I was at that exact point that my life would turn upside down – the dream turned into a nightmare.’

A few days after the images were made public, Rebecca released a statement on social media, revealing that the night that Seann cheated, she was sitting ‘alone at home’ on her birthday.

They split as a result, and Katya’s marriage ended within the year.

Both Seann and Katya issued public apologies about what they both referred to as a ‘one-off drunken mistake’.

Seann has since called the fallout ‘horrific’, explaining on Amazon Prime Video’s Backstage With Katherine Ryan in 2022:  ‘I can’t go near anything Strictly, I can’t. It just messes my head up.’

Four years after Strictly, the Beyond Paradise star – who went sober and started therapy – headed to the I’m A Celebrity jungle under the persuasion of his new partner Grace, where he finished fifth.

The Who’s Roger Daltrey has revealed he is going blind.

The British singer, 81, is currently performing a limited run of shows in the iconic 1960s band at the Royal Albert Hall for the Teenage Cancer Trust.

During the first of these nights, on 27 March, Roger told the 5,000-strong audience about his deteriorating eyesight.

‘The joys of getting old mean you go deaf, I also now have got the joy of going blind,’ he said.

‘Fortunately I still have my voice, because that I’ll have a full Tommy,’ he continued, referring to the title of The Who’s 1969 album, largely considered to be the first rock opera.

Roger was joined on stage with guitarist Pete Townshend, and together they performed all their classics, including I Can’t Explain, Substitute, Who Are You?, The Kids Are Alright, I Can See For Miles, Baba O’ Riley, The Seeker and My Generation.

Pete, 79, also talked about his ailments, sharing that ‘four and a half weeks ago, I had my left knee replaced’, later revealing he had done it by dancing in the style of Sir Mick Jagger.

Frontman Roger finished by telling the audience: ‘People say to me, ‘how the f*** do you still do it’, and I’ve got to tell you I’ve had one dream in life, and got really, really lucky.

‘And I look at those youngsters every night that come on the stage here, and I think, “if they can deal with their lot, this is a piece of piss”.’

The gig comes as Daltrey steps back from his role as curator of the Teenage Cancer Trust’s Royal Albert Hall concerts, having launched the series in 2000.

However, he will remain an honorary patron of the charity, with The Cure’s Robert Smith taking over curation duties next year.

The Who will return to the Royal Albert Hall for another gig in aid of Teenage Cancer Trust on Sunday.

This comes after another singing legend Sir Elton John revealed he lost sight in his right eye in July after it got infected in the South of France.

‘It’s been four months now since I haven’t been able to see. My left eye is not the greatest,’ he told Good Morning America.

Katherine Ryan has shared a photo of the mole on her arm which turned out to be skin cancer.

The comedian, 41, announced last week that she’d been diagnosed with melanoma for the second time, 20 years after the first.

Now, the Duchess star has shared a picture of the mole – which was larger than a normal freckle, and pinky-red in colour – before it was surgically removed.

‘Here’s a photo of the melanoma (which tbf really does not look like melanoma) in the office before they took it off,’ she wrote on top of a photo posted to her Instagram story.

On Telling Everybody Everything, Katherine explained how she visited the doctors over the mole but was told not to worry.

‘I know you should never google things but I’m actually really worried,’ she confessed. ‘Normally I’m that positive person.

Katherine admitted the mole didn’t look hugely suspicious, but she trusted her gut and got it checked out twice (Picture: Katherine Ryan/Instagram)

‘I think it’s really easy to take a diagnosis of “you’re healthy” and “walk away”.

She continued: ‘But the mole kept changing, I know a lot about melanoma, I had melanoma as a very young woman – aged 21 – on my leg, I’ve spoken about that before.

‘It was flat, it wasn’t that big but it was melanoma. It is a deadly form of skin cancer and it does spread quickly.’

What is melanoma

As Katherine shared, melanoma is a form of skin cancer which is known to be particularly aggressive.

It grows from the melanocytes, the cells which form melanin and give skin its pigment.

Melanoma is known to grow quickly and can spread to other organs. Early detection — which Katherine has — is crucial in fighting it.

While it is the most deadly skin cancer, survival rates have been improving and around 87% of patients live for over 10 years after diagnosis.

Melanoma symptoms

  • A new mole, or change in an existing one, may be a sign of melanoma
  • Moles are usually round, with straight edges. Ones with an uneven shape or edge could be a symptom.
  • Moles with a mix of colours in them
  • Melanomas tend to be larger than normal moles

Other signs include moles that are sore, swollen, bleeding, itchy, or crusty.

Luckily, Katherine followed her gut and insisted the doctor remove the mole.

Having looked at the mole again, insisting it’s not melanoma, the doctor sent a shave away for testing.

The TV comedian added: ‘He rang me today and it did come back as melanoma. Early melanoma. The doctor was shocked and told me I need to go back.

‘It just feels crazy to me, what could have happened, if I hadn’t been my own advocate – and I will continue to be my own advocate.’

Earlier this week, Katherine revealed she’d had the mole removed.

In her university years, Katherine had a ‘golf ball-sized lump’ on her leg removed, and since she’s had her moles meticulously checked and removed.

The Taskmaster star lives in London with her childhood sweetheart Bobby Kootstra. who she married in 2019 after rekindling their romance a year earlier.

have a son named Fred, two, and baby daughter Fenna Grace, who was born in December 2022.

Katherine is also mum to Violet, 14, from a previous relationship when she was 25.

Nish Kumar has opened up about suffering from PTSD following death threats he endured during a particularly ‘weird’ time in his career.

As a vocally left-wing British Indian comic, Nish, 39, found himself the target of vitriolic right-wing trolls online – hate that came to a scary peak during the 2019 general election.

While Nish told Metro last year that online hate became so bad he had to call the police, he’s now divulged the horrific impact it had on his mental wellbeing.

Chatting to fellow comedian Keemah Bob on her podcast Icebergs, Nish revealed he suffered from PTSD in the wake of racist death threats following his election satire.

This involved whole days alone spent thinking about someone killing him.

‘I started seeing a therapist because of some like quite extreme, weird s**t that was going on in my work life in the end of 2019,’ Nish said.

When asked how his PTSD manifested, the Pod Save the UK host revealed: ‘Panic attacks and also emotional dysregulation for me was a big one.

‘There was some points where I would suddenly feel like, “Oh my god I’m gonna cry like out of nowhere,” and you can feel water rising in your chest.’

The Mash Report star explained how sometimes this feeling was provoked, but other times it came on randomly mid-conversation as his body was in a ‘high state of alert’.

PTSD symptoms

In most cases, the symptoms develop during the first month after a traumatic event.

But in a minority of cases, there may be a delay of months or even years before symptoms start to appear.

  • physical sensations, such as pain, sweating, feeling sick or trembling
  • flashbacks
  • nightmares
  • repetitive and distressing images or sensations
  • avoidance
  • irritability
  • angry outbursts
  • sleeping problems (insomnia)
  • difficulty concentrating

Many people with PTSD also have a number of other mental health problems, and issues with substance abuse. Other physical symptoms include headaches, dizziness, chest pains and stomach aches.

‘I should say I have the lowest level PTSD possible,’ Nish added, explaining: ‘There are grades with it. But even with my version, there’d be some days where out of nowhere in conversation I’m shouting or emotional.’

When this emotion comes on, Nish said he couldn’t explain why he felt it. He was left asking why.

‘A lot of it came from death threats and – this sounds like such a bananas thing to say – but most of the day I was imagining being killed,’ Nish said.

‘Like, if I was left on my own, I was imagining what it was gonna be like when someone came to my house and killed me.’

Talking to Metro last year, Nish said he had to find a way to avoid toxic online conversations.

‘I don’t want to have a meeting with the police in any context ever again. But in December 2019 [the trolling] became so bad that we did have to involve the police,’ he said.

He continued: ‘It is a sewer. Twitter [now X] was bad and then got markedly worse after Elon Musk took it over. I do think a big way that I handle it is by paying a therapist, that is genuinely a big part of it.

‘I would love the temperature to come down a little bit in general, but more realistically I just need to figure out a way to not be on any of those websites.’

‘It’s purely a way of causing stress [by getting involved] with people like Laurence Fox because there’s no way to win that interaction. There’s no way to embarrass somebody who has no shame,’ he explained.

Gogglebox star Mary Killen has raised eyebrows over a comment she made about Stephen Graham while watching the hit show Adolescence.

Mary, who appears on the Channel 4 show alongside her husband Giles Wood, was filmed watching the Netflix series on Friday evening’s episode.

Co-written by Graham, Adolescence – which follows the Miller family as their 13-year-old son Jamie is accused of murdering a teenage girl – prompted a national conversation about misogyny in schools and the dangers of the online world.

Prime Minister Keir Starmer has backed a campaign to show Adolescence in schools, and its been described as a ‘watershed’ moment in the conversation about children and smartphone use.

Adolescence fans tuned in to watch Gogglebox stars take in the drama for the first time, and it struck a chord, with X user @mattfinished writing: ‘Gogglebox watching Adolescence makes it even more powerful.’

Watching was particularly difficult for new 2024 Gogglebox family Michael, Sally, and their sons Jake and Harry, as the parents both wiped away tears at the end of the first episode.

However, Mary caused a stir online when she referred to show creator Graham – and one of the most celebrated actors in the UK – as ‘that actor who always plays short northerners’.

‘”Always plays short northerners,”‘ echoed @mechocolatelove on X, commenting: ‘@Channel4 I’ll never stop praying for you to get rid of Giles and Mary. Unbearable.’

‘He always plays short Northerners Really?? Sheesh Mary,’ commented @cosmoksmom.

Another poster, @terrettcorey, quoted Mary alongside the crying face emoji.

This isn’t the first time Mary and Giles have got into bother with viewers, as earlier this month viewers were left frustrated over an episode focusing on the Donald Trump and Volodymyr Zelensky row.

They were reacting to the moment the White House meeting quickly descended into anarchy when Zelensky’s outfit choice was criticised by a reporter suddenly asking, ‘Why don’t you wear a suit?’

The bizarre scene ended in Zelensky storming out of the room, having been accused of ‘gambling with World War Three’ by Trump.

‘In hindsight, Mary, it might have been better if he had worn a suit,’ Giles told his wife in reaction to the confrontation, which caused outrage on the world stage.

Viewers weren’t impressed, with X user SMGEcon writing, ‘Why would anyone defend Trump/Vance’s position… baffling Giles,’ and many others agreeing.

Paddy McGuinness savaged by James Blunt after likening his gigs to ‘clinical depression’ https://metro.co.uk/2025/03/28/paddy-mcguinness-savaged-james-blunt-likening-gigs-clinical-depression-22813641/ https://metro.co.uk/2025/03/28/paddy-mcguinness-savaged-james-blunt-likening-gigs-clinical-depression-22813641/#respond Fri, 28 Mar 2025 20:35:09 +0000 https://metro.co.uk/?p=22813641

Sorry, this video isn't available any more.

James Blunt has hit back at Paddy McGuinness, who described clinical depression as much like being at one of his concerts with no way out.

The You’re Beautiful hitmaker, 51, has never been one to take himself too seriously and his recent social media activity has officially crowned him the king of self-deprecation.

Earlier this month radio star Paddy, 51, chatted to RTE One in a candid interview about his struggle with clinical depression.

While trying to describe what it feels like, Paddy explained: ‘The best way to describe clinical depression is depression on steroids.

‘I’m not being very fair to him, but it’s almost being at a James Blunt concert and they’ve closed the exits. Then when you finally get one open and burst through it, you’re in another James Blunt concert.

‘He’s a lovely fella by the way, but it’s the only analogy I could think of.’

Paddy went on to explain that when he had depression, he didn’t realise it.

He said: ‘My wife at the time said, “You’ve not been yourself for ages.” I thought I was just a bit stressed at work, a bit irritable. Clearly, I’d taken a massive turn.’

Always keen for a tour plug, weeks later James has posted the interview on his X account and said: ‘Suddenly clinical depression sounds quite fun. Tickets available here: http://jamesblunt.com/tour.’

Fans were proud of his comeback.

‘As ever, Blunt defends with a straight bat and hits a boundary. Stylish chap that he is,’ X user James Miller wrote.

‘It’s nice to be mentioned,’ joked another fan called Anita, while Fiona said: ‘I know it is a joke, but seriously, he has clearly never been to a James Blunt concert. Absolute joy.’

Paddy might have actually done James a favour here, as he heads out on his Back to Bedlam 20th Anniversary Tour this year in a string of far-flung dates across the pond.

The former soldier is kicking things off in Canada on June 12, before touring through the US and then South America, Europe and Australia.

Shortly after leaving the army in 2002, James attended his first ever gig – which was his.

He went on to become one of the biggest (and highest) British voices of the 00s, with hits including You’re Beautiful, Goodbye My Lover, Wiseman and 1973.

Lately, James has spent his time touring, almost falling off pianos in London venues and firing perfect shots – largely at himself – on social media.

Dame Helen Mirren blasts ‘sexist’ James Bond while revealing thoughts on female 007 https://metro.co.uk/2025/03/28/dame-helen-mirren-blasts-james-bond-drenched-sexism-talks-female-007-22813350/ https://metro.co.uk/2025/03/28/dame-helen-mirren-blasts-james-bond-drenched-sexism-talks-female-007-22813350/#respond Fri, 28 Mar 2025 18:04:11 +0000 https://metro.co.uk/?p=22813350

Yes, Dame Helen Mirren thinks James Bond is ‘drenched’ in sexism. But she doesn’t think the next 007 should be a woman.

The Oscar-winning actress 79, stars in new Paramount+ drama series MobLand, alongside one of the most famous Bonds in history – Pierce Brosnan.

But that didn’t stop the Gosford Park star from speaking her mind about the spy franchise, which is currently being reborn under the creative direction of Amazon Studios.

Chatting to The Evening Standard, Helen said she was against a female Bond, which some have suggested could be a way to rectify the spy’s womanising history.

Instead, Helen suggests we should be telling real stories about women in espionage – of which there are a lot, she says.

‘The whole concept of James Bond is drenched and born out of profound sexism,’ she began.

‘Women have always been a major and incredibly important part of the Secret Service, they always have been. And very brave. If you hear about what women did in the French Resistance, they’re amazingly, unbelievably courageous,’ she said.

‘So I would tell real stories about extraordinary women who’ve worked in that world.’

Helen also looked back at the sexism she was subject to as a young actress, with one moment in particular standing out to her fans.

In a Sir Michael Parkinson interview from 1975, he asked whether Helen’s ‘equipment’ got in the way of her career – meaning her breasts – and the actress, in her first ever TV interview appearance, famously retorted: ‘Because serious actresses can’t have big bosoms, is that what you mean?;

She’s often praised for the response, but Helen recalled to the publication: ‘Well, half a century ago, the only person who got criticised for that interview was me.’

MobLand, by Top Boy creator Ronan Bennett, follows Helen as a crime ring matriarch, Maeve Harrigan, who is married to Brosnan’s character Conrad Harrigan. It also stars Tom Hardy as her ‘fixer’ and Paddy Condidine as her son.

It will be available to stream on Paramount+ on March 30.

The search is still on for the next 007 after Daniel Craig, 57, completed his last assignment in 2021 with No Time to Die.

Yesterday Brosnan, who starred in four Bond films from 1995 to 2002, including Die Another Day, has ruled out a return in the next movie as an older model, saying it’s ‘another man’s job’ now.

Discussing rumours of his comeback on The Jonathan Ross Show, Pierce said: ‘No one’s spoken to me about it. I’ve heard all of the rumours. Listen, they know where to find me. Let’s see where the wind takes us.

He later clarified: ‘It’s going to be another man’s job. I’m not looking to go there. I’m quite happy with my career. I’ve done it, it was wonderful. Delightful kind of notion to contemplate.

‘He’s with me for life [Bond]. It was great. A magical time in my life. It opened a lot of doors and allowed me to go off and form my own company and make my own movies – The Thomas Crown Affair, The Matador – it gave me access to a whole other world as an actor, employment.’

The current bookies’ favourite to become the next James Bond is Slow Horses actor Jack Lowden, 43.

Johnny Mathis has cancelled all his tours from June 2025 onwards due to his age and memory issues.

The US singer, 89 – who was one of the best-selling recording artists of the 20th century – announced on his official Facebook page that due to his age and ‘memory issues’ the rest of his shows would not be going ahead as planned.

‘As many of you may already be aware, Johnny Mathis is approaching his 90th birthday this year,’ the post began, on the Gina hitmaker’s behalf.

It continued: ‘So, it is with sincere regret that due to Mr Mathis’ age and memory issues which have accelerated, we are announcing his retirement from touring & live concerts.’

The Grammy-winning singer is in the middle of his The Voice of Romance Tour, with dates onwards from June 2025 cancelled.

The heartfelt goodbye post was signed off with: ‘Johny Mathis & his entire staff send their heartfelt gratitude to all Mathis fans worldwide for your continued love & support of his music! It’s truly been “Wonderful, Wonderful”.’

Johnny, who has a few shows left in Pennsylvania, Indiana and California, is scheduled to perform his final gig on May 18 at the Bergen Performing Arts Center in Englewood, New Jersey.

After floods of well wishes from fans, his official Facebook page confirmed that the final concerts will not, unfortunately, be filmed for the rest of his fans to enjoy.

While he is retiring from touring, Johnny will still be making music, the announcement said.

Fans also left their personal messages for Johnny, as Pamela Franklin said: ‘Always been my favorite singer since my Mom introduced his music to me when I was 2.

‘My husband and I have been married 55 years and OUR SONG since the first day is Johnny Mathis The Twelfth Of Never.’

Richard Mitnick said: ‘This is very sad. We were fortunate to see him in Worcester several years ago. Truly a class man with a golden voice. Thank you for the endless joy you’ve blessed us with!’

Mathis’ representative Robert Scott told USA Today that his memory issues don’t impact his ‘day-to-day’ life but touring has taken a toll on his health.

‘His voice is still wonderful, and it’s a shame that he won’t be able to share that with his audiences after May 18,’ Scott said. ‘He knows deep down that it’s time to call it a day.  He’s performed 69 consecutive years now (1956) without ever missing a beat.’

The crooner’s iconic silky voice is best known in hits including Misty, Chances Are, and his 1976 Christmas classic When a Child is Born. He also has six original Christmas albums.

The longest-running recording artist on Columbia Records, he recorded 53 studio albums between 1960 and 1990, carrying on for his dedicated fanbase when his crooner style fell behind the mainstream.

Talking about his career, Johnny once said: ‘The most fun I’ve had over the years is singing with my girlfriends: Dionne Warwick, Barbra Streisand, Gladys Knight, and on and on.

‘That’s so fulfilling as a performer – working in tandem with someone else. That’s what I really cherish.’

Phil Wang is going on Bake Off – and no, he’s never baked. (Picture: Channel 4)

Half of comedians are not naturally funny, according to new Bake Off star Phil Wang, who identifies as a part of this unfortunate cohort.

That’s not to say this 50% are bad at comedy, though. In fact, Phil is almost objectively hilarious, with his dry observations and feigned enthusiasm.

No, no. Unfunny people don’t make bad comedians. Where these 50% lack in natural funnies, they make up for in intelligence.

‘My theory about comedians is that there are only two types of comedians,’ says Phil over Zoom, with the air of a thoughtful academic.

‘There are people who are funny because they’re funny, and people are funny because they’re smart. I’m funny because I’m smart.’

‘There are comedians who just are funny all the time and it’s just how they speak, it’s how they behave, it’s in their bones.’

But Phil is more of a curious scholar of comedy, it seems (which sits at the top of his list of intense interests alongside wine and, recently, art history).

BAFTA Games Awards 2024 Nominees' Party - Arrivals
The comedian is only funny because he’s smart, he thinks (Picture: Scott Garfitt/BAFTA via Getty Images)

‘I can figure out the mechanics of [comedy] and the patterns and the logic of it. If I am ever funny, that’s why. I think maybe the true geniuses, you could argue, are both. But I think for the most part, comedians are divided into these two categories.’

While the well-worn trope is that clowns are sad, depressed people looking for validation, Phil thinks comedians have a very different personality trait in common.

‘I think we are natural overthinkers, because a joke is an overthought,’ he says. ‘A joke is thinking about something beyond its initial impression and thinking behind it, or reverse engineering from a punch line.’

Good point. This Phil Wang, who appears on Celebrity Bake Off on Sunday armed with having baked just the once, really is smart.

He appears on the Stand Up To Cancer charity spin off alongside the likes of Chicken Shop Date star Amelia Dimoldenburg, Good Morning Britain’s Kate Garraway, radio star Roman Kemp, and fellow comedian Sophie Willan.

‘I’ve never been much of a baker,’ Phil says. Handy. ‘Bake Off is my first real foray into baking,’ he adds. Even better.

Phil is having a go in the Bake Off tent this weekend, but don’t expect greatness (Picture: Channel 4)

The first and last time Phil baked was on Bake Off: Extra Slice, when he was asked to make judge Dame Prue Leith a lemon drizzle cake, which ended up tasting ‘like chemicals’.

‘I think I packed it full of bicarbonate of soda, which tastes like batteries and Prue Leith ate some,’ he recalled.

‘Her face sort of went, but she’s so polite she said, “Yeah, not bad. Maybe too much salt.”’

Usually, he’s a savoury man, you see. As for snacks, Phil is campaigning to introduce locusts to UK train stations.

‘I’m kind of waiting for insects to become a normal thing. Because years and years ago I had some locusts, like dried locusts. Delish. I loved it.

‘Never seen it since. I’m waiting for bugs to become a thing. Buying a little pack of locusts on the way to the train station. Imagine, what a future.’

When I note that it could solve the environmental problem of huge swarms of locusts plaguing Africa, he quips: ‘Big time. Imagine a plague of locusts becoming a positive thing. It would be amazing. “Mouths open! Put your heads out of the car, kids.”‘

But we will let Phil off for his lack of baking prowess if the fruits of his labour do indeed end up in the bin on Sunday’s episode… He’s at the end of his Glastonbury-inspired fallow year at the moment, so let the man recover please before hurling your X mockery.

You see, Phil ran out of things to say.

‘I did [run out of things to say] at the end of the last show cycle,’ he says. ‘I took a couple of months not saying anything, and things started to build up again.

‘I think the danger of our current cultural landscape is that the internet consumes content at such a rate… Creators are under pressure to create indefinitely, and non stop.

‘I don’t think it’s good. I think you end up saying stupid s**t. We should all think of ourselves as Glastonbury Festival.

‘You need a fallow period from time to time. You need to let things grow. Otherwise you end up making crap. So that’s why I give myself fallow periods. And this last one seems to be over.’

Now he’s armed with a kernel of an idea for his next show, all about Millennials aging.

‘I think Gen Z has a lot of things right. I really like their nihilism. I think it is really funny,’ Phil muses. ‘And as a pessimist myself, I think there is an inherent wisdom in nihilism.’

Us poor old Millennials are suffering from what Phil calls ‘naive optimism’.

‘We were born at one of the most awkward points in history for a generation to be born, and we were told that we could do anything, and then we came to maturity at a time of economic instability and the deterioration of the global world order, and this optimism that we brought up with has yet to climax, as it were, and so we are in spiritual limbo.

‘Whereas the Gen Z were born into this environment and have always been nihilistic, and I think they are psychologically built for the present moment.’

That was getting too smart too quick, so Phil quips: ‘However, they’re also basket cases. So it’s hard to say, really… These are just some of the ideas I’m still trying to explore as light a way I can.’

In his fallow period Phil rested by learning all about art history. Relatable.

‘I got burnt out, and I just needed to rest and play some video games and do a lot of reading,’ says Phil, who is hosting the 21st BAFTA Games Awards on April 8 for the second time (he likes gaming a lot).

‘I’m trying to learn art history, because I never learned any art history. So that’s very nourishing and I come out of it feeling much better and rested, and wanting to talk about things.’

He learnt all about the wines of New Zealand for Mastermind, and tells me he got an A in that particular knowledge hole.

‘The more pretentious I come across the better,’ he jokes. ‘No, but these are just gaps in my knowledge, you know. And I find it really pleasurable to fill gaps in my knowledge.’

Yes, he was that guy at school.

‘I was very well behaved, very quiet, very boring, to the point that when I first started doing stand up in high school, my friend Nick said, “You’re not funny”.

‘And I was like, “Yeah, I know, but I’m smart, and I reckon I can figure this out.”

‘Comedy is the intellectual challenge that I’ve never got bored of.’

Celebrity Bake Off for Stand Up To Cancer airs every Sunday at 7:40pm on Channel 4.

Megan Fox has welcomed her first child with Machine Gun Kelly.

While the mother-of-four, 38, is yet to post about the new arrival, 34-year-old rapper Kelly has announced the news on social media.

‘She’s finally here!! our little celestial seed 3/27/25,’ Kelly wrote, alongside a video of him holding the newborn’s hand.

The pair announced their engagement in January 2022, but it’s been a rocky road since and their relationship status is unclear.

In January, sources told TMZ that the pair are not on speaking terms, and the US outlet reported it was unclear how involved he will be on the baby’s arrival.

Announcing the news they were expecting in November, Megan shared a picture of a positive pregnancy test and a snap of her visibly pregnant while sitting on the floor covered in black ink.

She wrote in the caption: ‘Nothing is ever really lost. welcome back.’

This remains the only post on her Instagram page.

Megan previously endured a miscarriage with Kelly, an experience she opened up about her collection of poetry called Pretty Boys Are Poisonous: Poems: A Collection Of F**ked Up Fairy Tales, which was published last year.

The Hollywood actress told ABC’s Good Morning America (GMA) in 2023: ‘I’d never been through anything like that before in my life, I have three kids so it was very difficult for both of us.

‘And it sent us on a very wild journey, together, and separately, together and apart… trying to navigate what does this mean and why does this happen.’

Megan, known for robot film series Transformers, has three children from a previous relationship with Beverly Hills, 90210 star Brian Austin Green – Noah, 10, Bodhi, nine, and Journey, six.

Kelly seemingly announced Megan’s pregnancy in 2022 at the Billboard Music Awards before her miscarriage, when he dedicated his performance to their ‘unborn child’.

Former Made In Chelsea star Millie Mackintosh has explained that her recent social media absence is due to her undergoing surgery for an injury inflicted by her three-year-old daughter, Aurelia.

The influencer, 35, shares Aurelia and her eldest daughter Sienna, four, with her fellow E4 cast member, Hugo Taylor, 38.

While toddlers are never the easiest, Millie has endured quite the rollercoaster few weeks after Aurelia knocked her head back and fractured the star’s nose by accident.

‘If I’ve been quiet on here recently, there’s a reason why…’ Millie began in a lengthy social media post alongside a carousel of photos documenting her life lately, including her hospital stint.

‘Three weeks ago, Aurelia accidentally fractured my nose!’ Millie revealed, explaining: ‘She threw her head back while I was holding her and the back of her skull hit me right in the middle of my nose.

‘I heard a crack, went to get it checked, and ended up needing surgery at the end of last week to correct the fracture.’

Directing her post to her parent followers, Millie asked: ‘Has this ever happened to other parents? Seriously a parenting low – but also, you kind of have to laugh.’

It turns out, Millie is not alone.

Her follower sorujewellery revealed: ‘Yes my daughter when about 3 scratched my eye ball by mistake while grabbing at my face…. Ripped off the top layers I was in so much pain I thought I was going to faint.’

Another admitted her child recently scratched her cornea, too.

Others thanked Millie for her honesty about parenting, as megancole_ said: ‘Love all the honesty. Parenting is not always easy for sure but glad you’re okay.’

danaemercer said: ‘Oh darling. What an honest post. Thank you.’

While Millie and Hugo’s dating years were documented on Made in Chelsea – including the time Millie famously threw a drink over him – the married couple spent years apart before reconnecting in 2016.

In the years they were not an item, Millie married Professor Green, but they divorced after two years in 2016. Two years later, Hugo and Millie tied the knot.

Millie has previously said of her husband: ‘I feel so lucky to have found my soulmate – our path to each other may have had a few detours but we ultimately found our way, and I am truly blessed to be on this crazy journey called life with you and our beautiful children.’

Since leaving the SW4 TV show, Millie has garnered 1.3million followers for her candid posts about life and parenting.

Good Morning Britain host Ranvir Singh has made a rare comment about her boyfriend Louis Church while talking about parenting her 12-year-old son Tushaan.

The Lorraine co-host, 47, started a relationship with Louis, 29, in 2020 when they worked together on Strictly Come Dancing.

Louis was a producer on the show while Ranvir was partnered with Giovanni Pernice, coming fifth in the series after being eliminated in the semi-final.

Now Ranvir has opened up about introducing her son to Louis, and how important it is for the man in her life to be a good role model for him.

‘I think when you have a child the bar is so much higher,’ she said, talking to the Daily Mail’s Weekend magazine.

‘You can take risks with your own life, but when you have a son you have to be sure this is someone who’ll be a positive force in his life. And Louis is.’

She added: ‘He does all the football games with Tushaan. He does the fishing, all the things I couldn’t do.

‘I think it’s a huge worry, the question of who your child’s male role models are.’

In 2024 the ITV star revealed she split from her husband, Ranjeet Singh Dehal, over a decade ago while she was pregnant with their son Tushaan.

She initially announced their split in 2020 before appearing on Strictly, but little did viewers realise at the time that her news came eight years after the fact.

‘I have actually been a single mum since I was 7 months pregnant. I’ve kept that so quiet but I am okay to talk about it now,’ she told Kate Thornton’s White Wine Question Time podcast.

‘Now I’m at a point in my life where I think that I’m learning to embrace my whole life and to not compartmentalise it as much, to keep everything separate. And that’s a me thing.’

She concluded her story by adding: ‘I’m happy to correct it today. Obviously my friends and family have known. It shows you can keep private whatever you choose to!’

In February Ranvir admitted she was cautious to introduce Louis to her son.

‘I think anybody who’s been in the position I’ve been in plays it very cautiously. It really isn’t just about you and your feelings,’ she told OK! Magazine.

‘We can throw caution to the wind for ourselves, but when we have children, our foot is always hovering over the brake pad because you think, “Hang on a minute, this isn’t just about me”.’

She added: ‘It’s not just about the relationship itself, but even thinking, “Have I got the time to introduce somebody? I don’t want to dilute my time with my son”.’

Optimistically, she concluded: ‘Falling in love is a very brave decision, and to do it well is a lifelong journey.’

While eyebrows raised when Ranvir announced her and Louis’ relationship in 2021, she has previously defended their age gap.

‘What really matters in any kind of relationship in life is a synchronicity of values and emotions. I don’t know why we’re so obsessed with the age gap,’ she told Woman & Home in 2023.

Holly Willoughby’s ITV future uncertain for first time ever after Dancing On Ice axe https://metro.co.uk/2025/03/27/holly-willoughby-mourns-dancing-ice-emotional-statement-itv-axe-22806498/ https://metro.co.uk/2025/03/27/holly-willoughby-mourns-dancing-ice-emotional-statement-itv-axe-22806498/#respond Thu, 27 Mar 2025 17:53:18 +0000 https://metro.co.uk/?p=22806498

Holly Willoughby reportedly has no current shows in the pipeline with ITV for the first time in 21 years.

It comes after she spoke out following the news Dancing on Ice had been axed after 19 years.

The former host, 44, has presented the show since its inception in 2006. She fronted it alongside Phillip Schofield until his ITV departure in 2023, when he was replaced by Stephen Mulhern.

Now, a source has revealed that Holly is not working on any shows with the broadcaster for the first time since she joined in 2004 (when she presented the CITV show Saturday Showdown with Stephen).

This is in direct contrast to Stephen who is currently signed on for Celebrity Catchphrase and Deal or No Deal as well as upcoming show The Accidental Tourist and potentially a second season of You Bet!.

The insider told The Sun: ‘Despite the sad news that Dancing on Ice won’t be returning next year, this clearly isn’t going to slow Stephen down any time soon.

Holly Willoughby
The former This Morning presenter reportedly has nothing in the works with ITV (Picture: Kieron McCarron/ITV/Shutterstock)

They added: ‘That’s not the case for Holly, though, with nothing confirmed for her at ITV right now.’

Holly has shown interest in projects outside of ITV, however, most recently hosting the Netflix reality adventure series, Celebrity Bear Hunt.

In an emotional statement after the axe was made official, Holly thanked the crew behind the show as she said: ‘A huge thank you to @itv, The brilliant team, Crew, Celebrities and Everyone who has been part of our Dancing on Ice family over the last 19 years.

‘Every year, just when January felt at its greyest, Dancing on Ice arrived like a burst of glittering, dazzling light, warm, joyful, and full of heart…

‘It has been an absolute privilege to work alongside true national treasures Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean, and to have a front-row seat to their breathtaking skating.

‘Watching them glide across the ice was nothing less than pure magic… A special thanks must also go to Arnica, Deep Heat,Spanx and fake tan, unsung heroes of the rink! …

‘I will miss it hugely, but I count myself so lucky to have had it for as long as we did. Finally and most importantly, thank you to you for watching, you’re the BEST!’

The show was previously off air from 2015 to 2017, but this time ITV announced they had no plans to revisit the show.

Yesterday an ITV Spokesperson told Metro: ‘Following another successful series earlier this year, Dancing On Ice will be rested in 2026 with no current plans for another series.

‘We would like to take this opportunity to thank all of the cast and crew who have worked on the show since 2006, and over the previous 17 series, for all of their hard work both on and off the ice.’

Over 200 celebrities have taken part in the show over the 245 episodes, which have required an estimated tens of thousands of sequins since it was first broadcast in 2006.

Earlier this month  Holly Willoughby and Stephen Mulhern announced Sam Aston would lift the trophy after competing against Anton Ferdinand and Michaela Strachan in the final of the most recent series.

From heights of 13million views in the first season’s finale in 2006, the recent 2025 finale only drew in 2.7 million viewers.

Metro has reached out to ITV for comment.

Prince William’s plea to Kaleb Cooper now Prince George is watching Clarkson’s Farm https://metro.co.uk/2025/03/27/prince-williams-plea-kaleb-cooper-now-prince-george-watching-clarksons-farm-22805127/ https://metro.co.uk/2025/03/27/prince-williams-plea-kaleb-cooper-now-prince-george-watching-clarksons-farm-22805127/#respond Thu, 27 Mar 2025 16:44:10 +0000 https://metro.co.uk/?p=22805127

Up Next

There’s a new star of Clarkson’s Farm, and his name is Prince William.

The Prince of Wales, 42, visited the west country to meet Clarkson’s Farm stars Kaleb Cooper and land agent Charlie Ireland.

While Kaleb, 26, usually spends his days tearing his hair out trying to teach a clueless Jeremy Clarkson how to drive a tractor, this week he had to be on his best behaviour for meeting the royal.

Having just been made a patron of We Are Farming Minds – which aims to improve mental health of Duchy of Cornwall farmers – William is set to appear in a special episode of Clarkson’s Farm, which will focus on the topic.

In true Kaleb form, on meeting Prince William he couldn’t help but poke fun at his moon-shaped lid.

‘Great hair,’ he said, after shaking Prince William’s hand. The latter seemed to take it well, but didn’t hold back from giving Kaleb a warning from his 11-year-old son, Prince George.

‘You’ve got George watching now. I said to him “What shall I say if I meet Kaleb?”‘ Prince William said, continuing, ‘He said, “Tell Kaleb to mind his language”.’

To that, Kaleb laughed, and replied: ‘I don’t swear ever. It’s because the people I work with are… Annoying.’

Talking to Sky News about mental health issues in the farming community, Kaleb said: ‘I’ve always said this, farmers are really good problem solvers. Yes, they may solve the problem but then at the end of the day they take that on board themselves.

The pair joked about Kaleb’s clothes, and also Prince William’s hair… (Picture: PA)

‘That”s where the stress comes from. That’s when mental health issues occur in the farming industry a lot. So it’s good to talk about it, and hopefully raise awareness.

Do farmers suffer from mental health issues more than the general population?

Poor mental health in farming is 46% higher than in other occupations but rural communities have less access to support.

95% of farmers under 40 believe that mental health is the biggest hidden problem facing farmers today

RABI’s Big Farming Survey conducted in 2021 revealed that 36% of farmers in the UK are probably or possibly depressed, while 47% are constantly struggling with anxiety. Of the 15,000 respondents involved in the survey, only 8% of women and 12% of men reported having good mental well-being.

In 2023 it was reported by Agriland that three people in the UK farming and agricultural industry die by suicide every week, according to the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP).

Perhaps referring to recent changes to inheritance tax relief for the farming community, Kaleb said: ‘There’s a worry about where does everyone see farming in 10 years, and the thing I always say is that, “Don’t forget, we need a farmer three times a day, for breakfast, dinner and tea.”‘

Charlie Ireland added: ‘We’ve got turbulent times in the economy, farming has picked up in that. We’ve had changes, cash flows are tight on farms. Cash flow is tight within the government. We’re feeling that within farming.’

Clarkson’s Farm season 4 is set to be released in around May 2025, with filming wrapping up in a few weeks.

A clip of Neil Diamond kissing a fan at a 2002 concert has resurfaced, leaving fans well and truly creeped out.

The Sweet Caroline hitmaker, 84, was performing his song Girl, You’ll Be A Woman Soon, when he got a fan to join him by the stage.

What unfolded is what TikTok users commenting on the video are calling the ‘most uncomfortable 20 seconds’ of their lives, as Neil caressed the fan’s face and hands, and kissed her passionately between lines while kneeling on the stage.

As the song came to a close, fans noted how it ‘didn’t look like she was super into him kissing him in the end’ and called it an uncomfortable watch.

‘It is the arrogance that he believes every woman in the audience fancies him,’ fumed an unnamed user.

‘I really like Neil Diamond but this is pretty creepy,’ added Alaskan Leo, while former fan seanannakins said: ‘Literally have just gone right off Neil Diamond.’

The video is… quite something (Picture: TikTok)

‘As if the lyrics weren’t weird enough, now we’re blessed with this,’ said Lee, while Big G said: ‘That is possibly the most uncomfortable 20 seconds of my life.’

The lyrics to the song, further popularised by an outing on Pulp Fiction, go: ‘Please, come take my hand / Girl, you’ll be a woman soon / Soon, you’ll need a man.’

In a concert review of the Ice Palace concert in 2002, the Tampa Bay Times wrote that the performance ‘found Diamond lip-locked with one young blonde who approached the stage.’

It continued: ‘Those tender kisses turned into a make-out session so steamy, afterward Diamond asked the crowd for a cigarette.’

In an almost identical situation in 2011, Diamond also crouched down again to kiss a female fan in a performance of the same song.

The Daily Mail reported at the time that after kissing her twice, he fell back on stage and asked: ‘Am I in heaven?’

He was also reported to have said: ‘You kiss very good, wow are all the girls in this area like you?’

After she confirmed she was from London, Diamond was then reported to have said: ‘ ‘I’ll be in London in a matter of days.’

In 2018, Diamond revealed he’d been diagnosed with Parkinson’s –  a degenerative neurological disorder that affects the body’s motor system, often causing shaking and movement difficulty.

At the time, he was forced to cancel shows in Australia and New Zealand on doctor’s orders while part-way through his 50th-anniversary tour.

In a statement released on his website he thanked his ‘loyal and devoted’ fans for their support.

Jenna Ortega has revealed she was ‘scared’ over a startling experience with a fan in the days following Wednesday’s release, which marked the moment her life changed forever.

The 22-year-old actress – who plays Wednesday Addams in the hit Netflix show – has recalled her unsettling experiences adjusting to her rise in fame over the past few years, which soared after the show hit the streaming platform in 2022.

Appearing on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, she said: ‘It’s very scary. I’ve been acting since I was nine, so I’ve been doing this for a while, so I’ve had glimpses of that kind of attention in public before.

‘But I remember, when the show came out, it was during Thanksgiving so I was at home with my family – no makeup, sweats, felt gross and awesome at the same time.

‘I was walking my nephew outside in my parents’ neighbourhood with my dog, and I just remember this woman and her daughter recognising me in the neighbourhood, doing a full screeching stop, spinning around doing a U-turn and trying to get my attention.

‘But I was scared because I was with my nephew, so she was yelling at him to “get over here”, but I think he was getting kinda freaked out and I didn’t know what to do.’

Jenna – who appeared in the likes of Scream and You before Wednesday – admitted that moment was when she noticed a new level of fame.

She added: ‘That was the first time I’d left my house since the show came out, and I think that’s when I realised, “Oh, it’s like something outrageous is written on my forehead and maybe things aren’t going to be the same.”‘

When talk show host Stephen asked if she had started to ‘enjoy’ fame and life in the spotlight, she paused with an awkward laugh.

She said: ‘Erm … no, but it’s like, you get accustomed to it, you get used to it, you don’t think about it so much anymore.

‘I think I’ve, just now, figured out the balance. When it first happened, I didn’t like it at all and I was having this visceral reaction to it.

‘I think, now, I understand it comes with the territory. I’ve seen this level for quite some time now and I think you’ve just gotta stop caring, it doesn’t matter.’

Having wrapped up filming for season two of Wednesday in December, Jenna also reflected on Lady Gaga making an unlikely appearance in the show.

‘She is so sweet, so humble. Just a normal person,’ said Jenna on meeting the Bad Romance hitmaker on set.

Up Next

However, while Gaga acted like a normal person, the rest of the Wednesday crew did not, as they – literally – rolled out the red carpet for the star.

‘I remember showing up to set and they had completely changed everything,’ Jenna said, amused. ‘Suddenly there was truck after truck after truck.

‘They rolled out this walkway for her to exit from the trailer to the tent.’

Jenna’s tent was also upgraded and she was given ‘fancy water’ – all of which was unceremoniously taken away on Gaga’s exit. Ouch.

The Netflix coming-of-age mystery series was one of the streaming giant’s biggest hits of 2022.

Produced by Tim Burton, the series also starred Game of Thrones actress Gwendoline Christie and Emma Myers, as well as 1990s Wednesday icon Christina Ricci.

The trailer for the second season dropped in September, leaving fans impatiently waiting for 2025 to come around. However, the exact release date is yet to be revealed.

Lisa Jane Smith – also known by her readers as L. J. Smith – has died at the age of 66

Author of The Vampire Diaries Lisa Jane Smith – best known as L. J. Smith – has died at the age of 66.

Smith, of Danville, California, died peacefully on Saturday, March 8, 2025, after a ‘long bout with illness’, the author’s website announced.

Born in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, on her father’s birthday, to Kathryn J. Smith and Glenn C. Smith, Smith grew up to become a New York Times bestselling author of young-adult fiction.

Of over 29 books she wrote over the course of her career, Smith was best known for the Vampire Diaries series – later adapted into a hit television show – and the Night World series.

He debut novel was The Night of the Solstice, which she wrote in 1987, followed three years after by the sequel Heart of Valor, which she finished in 1990.

She grew up in Southern California, in the small town of Villa Park.

Smith wrote seven books on the series in the 1990s, and the remaining six were ghostwritten, but she went on to publish fan fiction based on her version of the story.

The Vampire Diaries premiered on the CW in 2009 and ran for 171 episodes, following a love triangle between vampire brothers Stefan Salvatore (Paul Wesley) and Damon Salvatore (Ian Somerhalder), as they fought for the affections of human Elena Gilbert (Nina Dobrev).

Set in the fictional town of Mystic Falls, Virginia, the story soon unearths a whole supernatural world simmering beneath the surface of normal life.

The Vampire Diaries TV show concluded in 2017 after becoming the most-watched series on the network, passed only by Arrow, The 100, Riverdale, and The Flash.

Of The Vampire Diaries TV show, Smith once wrote: ‘I think it is a brilliant story, brilliantly written, beautifully acted, with terrific direction, cinematography, and music.

She added: ‘Of course, I still wish that someone as talented as Kevin Williamson [creator] would come along and tell the story the way it is told in the books, but that doesn’t dull my appreciation of the version that is out.’

On becoming a writer, she said: ‘I didn’t choose or decide. I have been a storyteller since before I learned how to read or write. I knew from my earliest childhood – the first things I remember – that I would only be happy as a storyteller.’

Dancing on Ice has been axed by ITV, it has been confirmed.

The show only just wrapped up its 17th season, and today the broadcaster confirmed it will be put on ice in 2026, with no plans to make another season.

An ITV Spokesperson told Metro: ‘Following another successful series earlier this year, Dancing On Ice will be rested in 2026 with no current plans for another series.

High production costs and dwindling viewing figures are thought to be behind the decision (Picture: ITV/Matt Frost/Shutterstock)

But days later, rumours began to whirl that the show’s future was in jeopardy after dwindling viewing figures and high production costs.

Ahead of the final, staffers were reportedly warned that the show was over unless there were some sensational finale viewing figures.

They told The Sun: ‘Dancing On Ice is an expensive production and there are questions over whether ITV is getting bang for its buck.

‘Staff working on it aren’t holding out much hope.’

They also claimed there was ‘no denying’ the format had become ‘tired’ and they were failing to attract big names so if Dancing On Ice continues, it will need a major revamp.

‘Changes are needed and it’s likely it’ll be rested and given a new lease of life,’ the source added.

In response, an ITV spokesperson told Metro: ‘The Dancing on Ice team has been fully concentrating on the much anticipated series finale last night and therefore no decision has been made.’

How many people watched Dancing on Ice?

Series 1 of Dancing on Ice in 2006 attracted an audience of 9.8million.

Figures peaked at 10.2m viewers in 2011’s series 6, and series 17 this year, with just 3.3m viewers tuning in, saw its lowest ratings ever.

A source also told The Mirror earlier this year: ‘We need bums on seats, but the ratings have dropped to a point where it’s difficult to justify the cost.’

The final episode of this season garnered 2.7million viewers in what’s been described as its lowest figures ever.

Most of the series were fronted by Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby, before Schofield was replaced by Stephen Mulhern for the past two years.

As for host Holly – who returned to Dancing On Ice when Phillip Schofield left ITV – The Sun have previously reported that the BBC is lining her up for a reboot of Blind Date.

Singer and actor James Arthur, 37, hit the big time when he won the ninth series of The X Factor in 2012. He reveals why he’s so excited about his new album, how the passing of Liam Payne affected him, the reason he lashed out after The X Factor and why he’s hoping he’ll get an invite to play Glastonbury Festival.

Hi James, are you just back from touring Australia and New Zealand?

Yes I was opening for the legend that is Bryan Adams and I’m the biggest fan. My favourite song of all time is I Thought I’d Died and Gone to Heaven; I think it was the first tape I bought.

And the first songs I sang in public were Bryan Adams songs. So it was very much a pinch me moment getting to share a stage and sing with him every night.

How was it meeting him for the first time?

I was a bit nervous and waffling sh*t to him. It was the day after we landed so we were so jet lagged and Bryan Adams is in my room chatting to me.

You know when you have that fear after someone leaves the room of ‘What did I say?’ But he’s the nicest coolest guy you could wish to meet. He’s really inspiring and at 65, he’s putting on an incredible show, playing for two hours a night.

His voice is impeccable. It’s really cool to see what I could have in the future.

The star has opened up about how ‘tough’ touring is with his two-year-old Emily at home (Picture: Simon Hofmann/Getty Images)

What’s touring life like for you these days, especially being a dad to 2 year old Emily?

I had to sacrifice seeing her for the Australian run, which was really tough as I’d not been away from her for more than 10 days before; I’m with her every day.

I usually have a rule of not being away from her for more than five days. She can come in and out if I’m touring Europe – she’s got one hell of a passport already.

It’s just doing America or Australia with lots of internal flights – you can’t expect a two year old to do that sort of schedule.

Your new album Pisces is out soon, you must be excited.

I am. I felt I needed to make something you could easily distinguish from my other records. It’s not all angsty, typical vocals you’d hear from me; it’s a bit more dreamy and that’s why the Pisces name was a good marriage.

Being a dreamer links well with the Pisces star sign and there’s a lot of cool things I could draw from the water theme. I’ve always resonated with my star sign. We’re all quite tribal and that’s one thing I feel I belong to.

Your single ADHD is all about your diagnosis with the condition. Has that changed things for you?

It’s been really helpful. I think it’s important not to use it as a crutch or as something to point to when things aren’t making sense or you’re not being understood by the people you love.

But it’s been helpful for me to equip the people around me to understand me better, and therefore I feel more connected with everyone because I always felt a bit disconnected and misunderstood before.

You knew Liam Payne – how much did his passing affect you?

Liam was a very caring guy; he requested to speak to me not long after The X Factor when it was well documented I was struggling with the sudden rise to fame from obscurity.

Suddenly I was on the front pages being talked about and Liam had gone through a similar struggle so he reached out and set up a meeting to speak to me before The X Factor Tour. He was concerned with my wellbeing and welfare – that’s the type of guy he was.

So I was obviously affected by his passing because it was clear he was struggling and perhaps in a dark place, and I’ve been there myself so it could have ended badly for me too.

Maybe fame might be slightly more difficult for people like myself and Liam that come from working class, humble beginnings.

You had a lot to navigate with that, and a tricky family dynamic too.

Yeah, it’s definitely taken me a long time to settle into this role. I went into that process with a lot of baggage so a lot of those things were amplified and I couldn’t deal with them.

I didn’t have enough of a support network around me in the form of family, because I’d pushed a lot of people away in my life. I made some monumental f*ck ups that have hampered my career so doors closed and now I have to work twice as hard as other people.

I lashed out so much because I struggled with the landscape of the music industry: I’m not saying Nepo babies can’t be talented but it bothered me that people who come from privilege had the opportunities while we were labelled as manufactured when I was just using a platform to showcase my ability. I’d worked as a musician and songwriter for 10 years before I did The X Factor.

There’s been some negative press about The X Factor since it ended. Have your feelings about the show changed?

I can only speak from my experience but the process worked for me in many ways because I went in to it knowing exactly who I was and what I wanted to achieve out of it.

I had a lot of songs in me but unfortunately a lot of people don’t and although they might be great singers, they’re dropped when it’s clear they’re not an artist. When X Factor gave you a record deal and a pot of money at the end, it was worth doing.

Whereas now shows just offer you exposure and they’re more about the judges. I can see why there’s a lot of casualties from that because it’s a cutthroat business.

You have 2.7 million followers on Instagram alone…

I’m very lucky to have such loyal fans. They’ve been there for me through thick and thin, and continue to campaign for me all the time. I’m really blessed; we have a special connection and I feel part of a community.

A lot of the music I make is for broken people, so people find solace in the lyrics, which is great to see. That’s why I love touring because music really unites people.

People for those couple of hours are fully escaping whatever pain they’re going through so it’s an absolute privilege. I love what I do; I’m very happy.

People really appreciate you sharing what you’ve been through.

Brené Brown does TED Talks about how vulnerability is courage and I like to spread that word at my shows; talking about your mental health and making yourself vulnerable is the most courageous thing you can do.

It doesn’t make you weak to talk about your mental health, nothing could be further from the truth. I’ve seen how profound it can be being open about my struggles and how helpful it can be to others.

Is there anything you’re worried your daughter might read about you when she’s older?

Oh, yeah. I wish I could burn many things that have been said and written about me. But I’ll have to cross that bridge when I come to it. Even things I’ve done myself, like my autobiography, I wish I hadn’t.

You don’t think one day I’ll be a dad and my daughter will read it. I wish I could undo a lot of things but that’s the nature of the beast.

Have you got any more acting plans?

I have a couple of gaps in touring this year so I’ve been looking at taking on a couple of projects. The right things haven’t come up before and the touring has ramped up so much since Covid so there’s not been much time for acting.

For someone like me or Harry Styles for example, and the way we’ve emerged in the public eye, it’s important to get it right. I’ve always liked Shane Meadows and Christopher Nolan things, where the acting feels improvised, gritty and authentic.

I do a fair bit of acting in my music videos; I’ve made a film that will accompany Pisces with flashes of acting from me. It’s something I really enjoy, and as I get older I’ll do more of it.

Have you chatted to Harry about it?

No I’ve not – I’d imagine he’s too busy to talk to me! But he’s done really well.

Why haven’t you done Glastonbury yet?

They haven’t invited me but I would love to. Maybe that’s one of the things I’m talking about where I’m blacklisted – I don’t know.

Or maybe that will come in my twilight stages in my career. I’ve been lucky enough to play Wembley a few times as part of the Capital Ball but I’d love to headline there. And also get myself in contention for some awards.

To be recognised for the efforts I’ve put in with music would be nice. I’m not holding out any hope!

You’re playing the Royal Albert Hall at the end of March too…

Yes for Teenage Cancer Trust, which I’ve done before. My dad’s really proud because I’m on the same week as The Who, who are his idols.

He can’t believe I’m on the same bill! It’s gonna be good and then I’m off to America in the summer to do an even bigger tour.

My biggest audience is in America, which is great because America is a huge market to crack.

What have been some of your other pinch yourself moments?

It feels like the last few years, things have really come to the boil. Last year I did Wembley and the O2 in the same week, I had a number one album and a sold out world tour.

I did a duet with Kelly Clarkson who’s a legend and I’ve just supported Bryan Adams. I’ve had a lot of success with a couple of songs too: Say You Won’t Let Go has had billions of streams and is the second most streamed love song of all time on Spotify.

To reach those kind of numbers is bigger than I could have ever imagined.

Pisces is out April 25th. James plays the Royal Albert Hall for Teenage Cancer Trust on March 26th.

It looks as though Molly-Mae Hague and Tommy Fury could be back on track after their family holiday to Dubai.

Fans were convinced the Love Island stars’ relationship was rekindling as they posted separate social media pictures of them both in Dubai with Bambi over the past week.

Now back home in Manchester, Molly-Mae, 25, has addressed the elephant in the room to her fans, explaining that the pair – who were engaged before breaking things off – are ‘figuring things out’.

‘I don’t want you guys to think I’m not being honest about who went on the holiday to Dubai,’ she began on her YouTube vlog on Tuesday evening.

‘I did do a big talking section about Dubai and the fact that we were going with Tommy, but I didn’t put it in the last vlog because I was scared. I didn’t want the anxiety of it when we were going away.

Molly-Mae and Tommy announced their split in August (Picture: Molle-Mae Hague/Instagram)

‘I’ve seen things saying, “They aren’t talking about their relationship because they’re saving it for the last episode of the documentary where they are going to do a collab post and come out saying that they’re back together.” That’s not the cast at all,’ the star confirmed.

Molly-Mae continued: ‘The only reason I have spoken about it is because I’m not ready to. I don’t know how I want to talk about it. Or if I ever do.’

She explained: ‘We had a really, really amazing time. The best holiday ever for all of us.’

‘Right now we’re just keeping it private. As private as we can. But also it’s not really private at all.

‘When you have a relationship in the public eye, trying to rebuild that relationship or work on that relationship or see if you have something worth saving…

‘You can’t figure things out the way a normal relationship would. You can’t do the normal things a couple trying to work on their relationship normally do.’

Right now, she said: ‘We’re just figuring things out. We’re just seeing how it goes.’

This comes after a representative of Tommy’s confirmed to Metro that he would not be appearing on Molly-Mae’s documentary following reports suggesting as much.

‘I can confirm that this is false,’ they said, adding: ‘Tommy is contractually bound to the BBC with his documentary and has not filmed for Molly’s show on Amazon.’

In August, Molly-Mae shared the shock split announcement.

‘Never in a million years did I think I’d ever have to write this,’ her Instagram statement began.

‘After five years of being together, I never imagined our story would end, especially not this way. I am extremely upset to announce that mine and Tommy’s relationship has come to an end.’

Up Next

She continued: ‘I will forever be grateful for the most important thing to me now and always, my beautiful daughter. Without us there would be no her, she will always be my priority.

‘I want to thank you all for the love you have shown us over the last five years. You have all been a part of our journey and I feel it’s right to share this with you all.’

‘Whilst I attempt to navigate the coming days and weeks please kindly respect my privacy over this difficult time. I’ll be back when it feels right. Molly-Mae x.’

Tommy released his own statement one hour later, which read: ‘I am heartbroken to share that Molly and I have decided to end our relationship.

‘The past 5 years have led to us having our beautiful baby girl, Bambi and I will be forever thankful to Molly for making me a dad. Bambi is our priority.

‘Please respect our privacy, and our family’s privacy, as we navigate our way through this difficult time.’

Tommy – who first locked eyes with Molly-Mae on 2019’s Love Island – has explained that his addiction to alcohol led to their break up.

He told Men’s Health: ‘The reason why me and Molly broke up was because I got addicted to alcohol and I couldn’t be the partner that I wanted to be anymore.

‘It kills me to say it, [but] it’s true, I couldn’t. I loved a pint of beer, loved to drink, and it is what it is. People go through different things in life and we all have our crosses to bear. I’ve got mine to bear.’

This news doesn’t come totally out of the blue as the pair were spotted kissing during a New Year’s Eve party thrown by Man United player Luke Shaw in Cheshire.

The pair got engaged in July 2023, months after welcoming their first child together, Bambi.

Elite new 007 producers will ‘keep James Bond spirit alive’ as Amazon kickstarts franchise https://metro.co.uk/2025/03/25/james-bond-film-underway-major-hire-harry-potter-franchise-22792506/ https://metro.co.uk/2025/03/25/james-bond-film-underway-major-hire-harry-potter-franchise-22792506/#respond Tue, 25 Mar 2025 20:46:39 +0000 https://metro.co.uk/?p=22792506

Spider-Man and Harry Potter producers Amy Pascal and David Heyman are to produce the next film in the James Bond series for Amazon MGM Studios.

It comes after Amazon gained creative control of the British spy franchise in February, following an earlier deal which saw them acquire the rights to the 007 franchise through its parent studio Eon Productions, founded in 1961, when it bought MGM in 2022 for $8.45billion (£6.69bn), duly forming its own studio.

Barbara Broccoli and Michael G Wilson – who have produced the franchise since the death of Albert ‘Cubby’ Broccoli – previously agreed to step back and retire, respectively, allowing Amazon to fully take the reins.

The new agreement over creative control means Bond – and whoever is next to play the spy – will be stepping with his licence to kill into a brand-new era.

What that will look like remains unclear, but this new team, comprise of two of the most successful and sought-after producers in the industry, said they will ‘keep the spirit of Bond very much alive’ and are ‘humbled’ by the opportunity to continue the franchise.

Speaking about taking on the next film, Pascal and Heyman said in a joint statement: ‘James Bond is one of the most iconic characters in the history of cinema.

‘We are humbled to follow in the footsteps of Barbara Broccoli and Michael Wilson who made so many extraordinary films and honoured and excited to keep the spirit of Bond very much alive as he embarks on his next adventure.’

It’s not clear yet if Heyman and Pascal might be undertaking more than one mission/movie with 007.

Pascal, who is best-known for her work on the last three Spider-Man films, is currently working on the Phil Lord and Christopher Miller-directed Project Hail Mary, starring Ryan Gosling, for Amazon MGM Studios.

She has also produced the Luca Guadagnino-directed Challengers, and is working on Narnia alongside Mark Gordon, which Greta Gerwig is directing for Netflix.

Meanwhile Heyman produced all eight film adaptations of JK Rowling’s Harry Potter books, as well as the three Fantastic Beasts films, and has also worked on Quentin Tarantino’s Once Upon a Time… In Hollywood, Gravity and Wonka, as well as the Paddington franchise.

He is currently in pre-production on the rebooted Harry Potter television series and in post-production on Taika Waititi’s adaptation of Kazuo Ishiguru’s Klara And The Sun, starring Jenna Ortega and Amy Adams.

Amazon MGM Studios head of film, Courtenay Valenti, said of the announcement: ‘We are approaching every creative decision with James Bond, which Barbara Broccoli and Michael G Wilson have so masterfully steered, with the greatest sense of responsibility.

Daniel Craig with car behind him in scene from Skyfall
After Daniel Craig exited the franchise following No Time To Die, it’s been all change – and a lot of speculation – over how the films will move forward (Picture: Danjaq/Eon Productions/Kobal/REX/Shutterstock)

‘Part of an elite group of producers who have developed and managed massive film franchises to box office success and critical acclaim, Amy Pascal and David Heyman are two of the most accomplished, experienced, and respected film producers in our industry.

‘We are honoured to be working with them on James Bond’s next chapter and are excited to deliver to global audiences storytelling that upholds the impeccable legacy of this beloved character.’

Who will be the next James Bond

Bet 365 has Henry Cavill as favourite to play the next James Bond after Daniel Craig announced his departure after No Time To Die.

Here are the odds at the time of writing:

Henry Cavill 6/4

Aaron Taylor-Johnson 5/1

James Norton 8/1

Harris Dickinson 9/1

Rene-Jean Page 12/1

Josh O’Connor 12/1

Richard Madden: 14/1

Jack Lowden: 14/1

Paul Mescal: 18/1

Callum Turner: 18/1

Pascal will produce the film via Pascal Pictures, and Heyman will produce via Heyday Films.

This development comes after it was reported the next Bond installment is going to be fast-tracked, with Amazon aiming for it to hit cinemas by the end of 2027.

A source told The Sun: ‘The Bond bosses had already proposed broad plots and reboot ideas.

‘The writers’ rooms are being assembled in the hope of recouping their investment ASAP.’

The new Bond movie also ha s a reported budget of £250million.

In a cryptic statement posted to social media, Peter Anspach, Cotter Ellis, Rick Mitarotonda and Trevor Weekz addressed Arevalo’s departure, writing: ‘We have been made aware of behaviour in Jeff’s personal life that does not align with the band’s core values. As a result, Jeff will no longer be a part of the Goose organisation.’

The So Ready musicians described the matter as ‘incredibly unfortunate’ and ‘unexpected’ but did not go into detail about Arevalo’s behaviour.

‘It is clear that this is the only way forward as we remain committed to upholding the values that define our community,’ they continued, ‘particularly when it comes to respecting others and creating a safe environment.’

Arevalo then issued a statement of his own saying he had taken a ‘mental health break’ from the band to seek treatment amid a ‘personal crisis’ in January, but the temporary absence later became a permanent exit from the group.

In his lengthy statement, he wrote in part: ‘I chose to take a mental health break and pursued a program in the great state of Washington. I studied emotional issues, spoke with many counselors, and worked in a group therapy setting with an open heart and mind.

‘I journaled daily, wrote poetry, and played music with my roommate. The idea of a new and limitless future became much more enticing to me than returning to “the organization”.’

Arevalo added in an Instagram post: ‘Upon leaving the program, rather than hearing from my former bandmates, I had received an email from the band’s lawyer stating that I was being let go for “reported behaviour and actions”.’

‘I have had plenty of time to reflect upon my actions, relationships, and values and I agree that we should go our separate ways,’ he continued, adding that he was not ‘rightly respected [or] values’ in his post.

Arevalo – who joined the band in 2020 – also said he was ‘extremely grateful’ for the opportunities he was afforded by fans during his tenure.

‘This moment also unfortunately marks the end of Orebolo,’ he concluded, referring to the spin off band with fellow Goose members.

‘However, I’ll be holding tryouts for two new guitar players at a future date. I’ll bring the bass.’

The US jam band formed in Conneticut in 2014, and are set to release their fourth studio album Everything Must Go on April 25, 2025, via No Coincidence Records.

This will be their first release since 2022’s Dripfield, which earned them number 2 on Billboard’s Top New Artist Albums chart.

They have appeared and performed on a number of high profile US shows including Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Jimmy Kimmel Live!, and CBS Saturday Morning.

Sorry everyone, but Pedro Pascal and Jennifer Aniston are not dating, he has confirmed.

This week the Friends star, 56, and The Last Of Us icon, 49, were seen grabbing a bite to eat at the Tower Bar at the Sunset Tower Hotel, West Hollywood, leaving fans spiralling.

But now Pedro has broken hearts everywhere, confirming they are nothing more than pals.

‘We’re friends and we went to dinner with mutual friends,’ he told E! News at the March 24 premiere of The Last Of Us season 2, adding: ‘It happens.’

On the aforementioned outing Jennifer, who was once married to Brad Pitt, kept things casual in blue denim jeans and a white t-shirt.

Pedro, meanwhile, rocked jeans, suede boots, and an effortlessly cool brown leather jacket.

Mail Online reported that the Hollywood heavyweights enjoyed a three-hour dinner together, leaving separately around 11.30pm.

Naturally, the internet went into a frenzy following their meeting leaving many wondering whether we were witnessing the next best Hollywood bffls, or something more.

‘Jennifer Aniston and Pedro Pascal… yeah I see the vision so clearly,’ Anistonily wrote on X.

Jenanistoworld said: ‘Jennifer Aniston with Pedro Pascal having dinner!? Am I dreaming!? Please.’

Others said they ‘should make a comedy movie together’, while some were simply desperate to know ‘what’s cooking’ between the pair.

‘If by some weird cosmic miracle Pedro Pascal and Jennifer Aniston become romantically involved, my heart would be so so happy,’ Jericalrogers speculated.

Trumanswhack agreed, adding: ‘Pedro Pascal and Jennifer Aniston I don’t know what’s going on but I support it with my whole chest.’

Many came to the conclusion that Jennifer and Pedro’s dinner date might mean he will appear on Aniston’s TV series, The Morning Show.

At the Critics Choice Awards this year, Jennifer and her co-star Reese Witherspoon invited him to join the Apple TV show for its fourth season.

Pedro told them to ‘pitch it to him now’ after Reese said she has a ‘really good part for him.’

He questioned if the part involved ‘anything romantic with anybody’, to which Jennifer jokingly responded ‘all of us.’

‘I sleep with everyone on the show,’ Pedro joked. ‘I’m in. All right, I’ll be waiting to hear from my agents.’

Jennifer’s outing comes after her ex-husband Justin Theroux married actress Nicole Brydon Bloom, leaving her ‘blindsided.’

Justin and Jennifer wed in 2015 before separating in 2018.
