Lady Gaga was honoured with hosting Saturday Night Live for a second time and impressed viewers with her comedic skills.
The singer and actor was unafraid to roast herself and she even took aim at her most recent movie – Joker: Folie à Deux. In the film, Lady Gaga – real name Stefani Germanotta – played Harley Quinn and Joaquin Phoenix, 50, starred as the Batman villain.
‘I know you might be thinking I’m here to promote my album, Mayhem, but I’m actually here to remind you I’m an amazing actor,’ is how the 38-year-old chose to begin her opening monologue.
She later said: ‘I’m an actor now and I’ve been very diligent about selecting films that showcase my craft as a serious actor. Films such as Joker 2, apparently, people thought it was awesome.’
At the box office it massively paled in comparison to the first Joker, which grossed over $1billion (£774m) upon its release in 2019. The sequel, which hit the big screen in October, made around $800m (£619m) less.
Warner Bros greenlit a production budget for number two that was reported at around $190m (£147m) – and that’s before any marketing costs, which would be tens of millions more, are taken into consideration.
On the the long-running comedy show Lady Gaga then acknowledged that the film had won two Razzies – an awards ceremony that celebrates the titles they think have been the most terrible that year. Lady Gaga and Joaquin picked up worst on-screen duo and the movie as a whole took home worst sequel at the annual event.
‘Jokes on them, I love winning things. My Razzie brings me one step closer to an Egort; it’s like an Egot, but it’s hurtful.’ Artists with Egot status have won an Emmy, a Grammy, an Oscar and a Tony Award.
‘I respect everyone here so much, so tonight, I promise to act, to sing and to not do Joker 3,’ she added.

The star also mentioned her last appearance on Saturday Night Live in 2013. In the previous episode, she performed with disgraced singer R Kelly.
‘I’m so happy to be back at SNL. The last time I hosted was in 2013 and every aspect of my performance aged amazingly because there’s no need to Google SNL 2013 featuring R Kelly. We all won’t,’ she stated.
‘I won’t bring it up because that would be bad.’
R Kelly is serving a 30-year prison sentence for sex trafficking and racketeering.

Viewers enjoyed Lady Gaga taking the helm of the show and flooded social media with complimentary remarks.
‘Lady Gaga is a comedic, self-aware ICON,’ wrote account PopTartNow on X.
‘Lady Gaga joking on JOKER 2, i really love this woman,’ weighed in Andres_Serrato1, and Gagafvr said she ‘killed’ the whole thing.
‘OH SHE’S SO NATURALLY FUNNY AND AMAZING I CAN’T WITH HER,’ typed DanyDan452 on YouTube.
