Louise Redknapp has opened up about her divorce from Jamie Redknapp and being blamed for their split.
Louise, 50 and Jamie, 51, tied the knot in 1998 and were married for 20 years until they divorced in 2018 after separating in 2017.
It was reported at the time that Louise’s appearance on Strictly Come Dancing might have been linked to her split.
Speaking on Fearne Cotton’s Happy Place podcast, she revealed that her split opened her eyes to how ‘unkind’ people can be.
‘If I didn’t have my kids, I just, I think I would have just given up. I really do.
‘I think I just knew that my kids were my everything and they needed me.’
‘But I can honestly say, when you’re going through something so personal in your own turmoil in your own way, but then to get the barrage of judgment and nastiness.’
‘I never realised people could be so unkind and say such terrible things. I blew my mind.’
The star added that she tried to be strong for her two sons, Charley, 20, and Beau, 16, who she shares with Jamie,but she was ‘breaking’.
‘I was going through a lot as it was, I was trying to be strong for my kids, whatever had gone on in our life was private – which I do believe that you’re entitled to no matter what.
‘And God, I was such a villain, and I was breaking like I was absolutely breaking.
‘Beyond what I thought it was possible for a human to break and all along I’m still trying to be a mum.’
She added that she struggled to put a brave face on, and felt she was only making wrong moves.
‘And it was just like every time I went out, and I was trying to put a brave face on and do things, like that was wrong if I didn’t.”

In September 2023, the former singer confirmed a blossoming relationship with aerospace CEO Drew Michael.
The couple is still together and have been snapped on various date nights over the past few months.
Jamie married Swedish model Frida Andersson, 42, in 2021 and the couplehave one son named Raphael born in November 2022.
