A man has been shot dead by police at Milton Keynes railway station after reports of a man carrying a firearm. Incident Details The incident occurred shortly before 1 pm today (April 1) when officers from Thames Valley Police and British Transport Police were alerted to reports of an armed man at the busy railway station. Armed officers from Thames Valley Police arrived at the scene and confronted the man. During the confrontation, shots were fired by police. Despite immediate medical assistance, the man was pronounced dead at 1:44 pm. Police Statement A spokesperson from Thames Valley Police said: Armed officers responded to reports of a man carrying a firearm at Milton Keynes railway station at 12:55 pm. Officers challenged the man, and shots were subsequently fired. Despite attempts to save him, the man was pronounced dead at 1:44 pm." Police have confirmed that they do not believe there is any further risk to the public following the incident. Investigation and Public Reassurance An investigation has been launched to establish the circumstances leading to the shooting. The Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) has been informed, as is standard procedure in such incidents. The railway station remained cordoned off as forensic teams and investigators worked at the scene. Commuters were redirected, and train services faced disruption. Passengers were advised to check for updates before traveling. Public Safety Authorities have reassured the public that the situation has been contained and that there is no ongoing threat. However, the incident has caused significant concern among commuters and local residents. Witnesses are urged to come forward with any information or footage that may assist the investigation.
